Hi everyone, meet Ryan!
Ryan came to Spartan not too long ago and hit the ground running. Ryan is no stranger to the supply chain! We are always in awe of how Ryan can carve out such special services to such niche customers. He takes the most complex parts of the industry and ensures that everyone involved, from the first phone call to the last delivery parcel, is updated, educated, and happy! If you understand this wild world of Logistics, you know it is Superman-type stuff he is accomplishing.
Ryan is, by nature, a born performer. He has had a successful comedy career and is a highly talented musician. He's had a kick-ass band and continues to give back by giving lessons in the arts of Piano, Drums, and Guitar.
He continues to develop those around him in all areas. Always, if not the first, to lend a helping hand and lend an ear. He cares about his work and the people around him.
Ryan, we thank you for all you do day in and day out, and we are excited to celebrate you as this month's Spartan Spotlight!
September Spotlight
Hi everyone, meet Brandon!
Brandon came to the Spartan crew after a brief stint in college. We share this because Brandon is one of the success stories that we talk about in this industry; although we absolutely applaud and support continued education, he heard rumblings that with hard work and grit, you can have a bountiful lifelong journey in the supply chain!
We have a belief system here at Spartan that you can have all the talent in the world, but if you don't have the “want”, it's the only thing we can't teach. Brandon has been a model of this belief system. He never shied away from a new opportunity to learn. He took constructive criticism with appreciation and action. If we could clone his can-do, will-do work ethic, we would 10 times over.
In his free time, he loves all sports, but he especially loves to hoop it up. But he also loves a good BINGO night! He is your typical Italian man and loves time with the family! We believe it's mostly the food; he's basically a human dumpster 😊 We don't see anything standing in the way of Brandon accomplishing anything he chooses to do!
Brandon, we thank you for all you do and can't wait to see all that you accomplish.
August Spotlight
Hi everyone, meet Joe!
Joey joined the Spartan family almost two years ago, but in speaking with him, you would think he was born into this Supply chain gang! Joey was a tradesman for many years, and it served him well, but he knew he wanted a change, and he was just smart and crazy enough to try this industry.
Like many of our Spartan family members, Joe has many interests and skill sets! Fantasy football, not so much! He did have some great ball-handling skills in his younger days that nicknamed him “ Dribble,” however, he has great music taste and is a proud new #1 Dad to his adorable little guy as well as being a devoted husband to his awesome wife!
Joey wears multiple hats at Spartan, but he’s a true relationship architect. He manages his book of business while assisting in coordination communications for one of our top-tier accounts. He is almost annoying with how he always brings a smile in even the most difficult of situations and is one of the first to lend a hand. He is a true team player, and we can’t thank him enough for his efforts and fluid skill sets!
Joey, we thank you for all you do and can’t wait to see what this year continues to bring!
April Spotlight
Hi everyone, meet Pat!
Pat has to be one of the most interesting Spartans to date. Pat has so many broad portals of knowledge, from being a talented chef, a vast knowledge of all things comic (mostly Marvel, even though some would argue DC is the Best), to having competed in MMA and still very much into the sport. He can contribute valuable intelligence to all activities.
Pat leads the logistic coordination communications for one of our top-tier accounts. His ability to dial into the details and easily connect with the person on the other end of the phone or email is fun to watch. He has embraced an extremely challenging role here at Spartan and made it his own process while giving the customer and Spartan what was needed for future success.
Pat, we thank you for all you do and can’t wait to see what this year continues to bring!
March Spotlight
Hi everyone, meet Andrew!
Andrew’s story is a good one! Andrew started with Spartan back in 2017 as a rookie and stayed with us for a little over a year learning the ropes as an Account Manager. He eventually moved on to a bigger shop and garnered more experience, but then COVID hit. Almost two years ago, we reached out to Andrew and described the “new” Spartan to him, new office, new processes, and new management. After a quick conversation, he was ready to return to the industry and find his home with us once again! Since his return, he has managed to jump in and make an immediate impact for one of our high-volume sales reps!
Picking Andrew was an easy decision this month! Not only is Andrew hard working, but he is also dedicated to helping his team grow and flourish! In his spare time, he enjoys MMA fighting and watching the Chicago White Sox!
Andrew, everyone at Spartan is so grateful for your continued dedication.
February Spotlight
Hi everyone, meet Eric!
Eric has been with the Spartan family for almost two years. Before Spartan, Eric was rocking out making some fantastic custom motorcycle work and was highly skilled at it, but he wanted the challenge of our industry! Eric has many reasons to work hard and succeed but none above his cool kiddo, Maddox! Above all being his dad is the role he loves most.
Choosing Eric was a no-brainer! Eric came in and went full throttle! If you met him, you would think he is years beyond his tenure. He is part of the largest team at Spartan and has proven himself a worthy advocate.
Eric, everyone at Spartan is grateful for your continued dedication and excitement to learn and grow. We can’t wait to see all you do!
December Spotlight
Hi everyone, meet Will!
December's Holiday Spartan Spotlight is one of our brightest (see what we did there) team members. Will joined the Spartan team and immediately impacted our culture and took on the role of our nighttime Logistics Coordinator with vigor and pride. The Spartan family knows that tracking our freight is on the front line of our battle every day. It allows us to be offensive in a highly reactive industry. Will understands the importance of the integrity of the communication and how its speed and accuracy needs to be provided. We could not ask for a better partner to help lead the charge in this challenging role.
Will is a man of many interests outside of Spartan. In his free time, he works in audio/video production. Will is well-versed in all things Chicago and knows how to rock some fashion! We also must be a little playful and mention that we finally understood how he could stay so alert all night. He has a secret (well, not anymore) with our Chief Human Resources office. She's been slipping Will his own batch of snacks and goodies to keep him fueled.
All kidding aside, Will, thank you for your continued contribution to the Spartan team and your fantastic work ethic!
November Spotlight
Jermard
Hi everyone, meet Jermard!
Back by popular demand and just in time for the holidays, we are happy to announce November’s Spartan Spotlight, Jermard!
One of the many things we pride ourselves on at Spartan Logistics is that we have a very diverse and inclusive team that comes from all walks of life. Jermard was born in the US but is also very proud of his Haitian heritage and the deep family roots from the Bahamas as well! From age 11 to 18, Jermard lived in the Bahamas with his family and attended school. To this day, his family and friends that still lives there are never far from his thoughts.
Jermard joined our team back in January as a Logistics Coordinator. He was completely new to the industry, and there was just “something” about him. We decided to take a chance on him, and boy are we glad we did! From the day he joined our team, he has always been upbeat, positive, and willing to dive in wherever we need him.
In addition to being a valued team player, Jermard is a happily married family man. His happy-go-lucky disposition shines through when he’s in the office. Sometimes the track and trace department can be known for being challenging but Jermard handles himself with professionalism and always does so with a smile. We believe Jermard will continue to grow with Spartan, and we expect good things from him in the future.
October Spotlight
Tyler
Hi everyone, meet Tyler!
Tyler has a unique story we are thrilled to share! He originally started with Spartan Logistics in July of 2016 as a rookie with no freight experience. Although Tyler was fresh out of school with no experience, Spartan instantly thought Tyler would be a good fit. We knew it – even back then, Tyler was like a sponge and soaked up all the knowledge and experience he could while he stayed at Spartan on our carrier team. However, life happened, and in 2018 Tyler moved out of state.
Fast forward to November 2019 when Tyler reached back out to Spartan management to inform us, he was moving back to town. We immediately knew we wanted him back on the carrier team where he belonged, and he has been making a difference ever since!
Tyler is a genuine joy to have on the Spartan team! He brings such positive energy to the office every day, even when the market is “challenging,” which has been the entire timeframe of his return. In his spare time, he is an avid student of Jiu-Jitsu and developed a green thumb over this past summer, where he grew a flourishing garden in whatever space his backyard allowed!
Tyler, everyone at Spartan Logistics is so grateful you came back to town and rejoined our team!

Sandy
Hi everyone, meet Sandy!
It is with much enthusiasm we would like to introduce you to this month's Spartans Spotlight, Sandy!
Sandy joined the Spartan team over a year ago and immediately made an impact on so many levels. She took charge and owed any of the tasks thrown her way while assisting leadership in building processes both new and those that needed improvement. If you were to ask any of her Spartan family members, she is fierce in accomplishing her goals, but even through the incredible amount of stress, she still finds time to be one of the best teachers and teammates here at Spartan.
She defines the true meaning of a Woman of Power and Passion. She does all of this at Spartan while being a full-time wife and mom! That's her priority, although you wouldn't know it by the way she keeps the ball rolling here in the House of Spartan. Her family is her pride and joy, and we know that she works so hard to help give them the best in life, and that is not lost on us.
So, from all your Spartan family, Sandy, we thank you so much for all that you do. We continue to be in awe of where you find the energy but know we appreciate you!

Xavier
Hi everyone, meet Xavier!
With much excitement, Spartan would like to introduce you to Xavier! This month's Spartans Spotlight.
Xavier has been a part of the Spartan family for over 6 years, originally being hired as the Billing Clerk. In his interview, this energetic and goal-oriented teen was talking about vision boards and grand plans for his future goals at Spartan. After all this time, not much has changed! He has worked his way up through the company by being a sponge and soaking up every bit of knowledge he can. It’s been an absolute pleasure to watch him grow both professionally and personally! Xavier embodies every quality that Spartan looks for in a teammate.
Xavier comes from a large close-knit family with 4 siblings – all boys! We have met his mom and this hardworking, patient woman is clearly responsible for the man he is today!
His dedication to perfecting his craft and helping to grow Spartan has catapulted him into our leading carrier rep. The best way to describe Xavier is a valued team member that lifts while he climbs.

Todd
Hi everyone, meet Todd!
Todd was the very first Spartan that was hired when we opened our doors over eight years ago! Picking Todd to be our Spartan Spotlight of the month was an easy choice as he is one of the hardest working guys on our team! With over 13 years of industry experience, Todd understands the needs of his customers and the dedication they demand, which is why he is one of the best Sales Executives in the business.
Even more important than being a superior sales guy, Todd prides himself on being a “Girl Dad.” Todd and his wife have three beautiful daughters with another baby on the way. To keep things interesting, they decided once again to forgo finding out the baby’s gender ahead of time, but, of course, only time will tell before we know whether it’s a girl or boy, so stay tuned – Baby Smith is due at the end of the month.
Todd, everyone at Spartan is so grateful for your continued industry knowledge and experience, and secretly we are all betting it’s another girl!

Lauren
Hi everyone, meet Lauren!
Lauren is our Spartan Spotlight for June! Lauren has been with the Spartan family since the very beginning of 2012! She is a major part of our accounting team and has been instrumental in helping establish new methods and daily practices that have been essential to the rapid growth that Spartan has had over the past few years.
It’s a thankless job most times. Without a strong accounting team and a person who understands the value of the relationships with the customer and carriers past the “load being delivered”, we would not have achieved such success. Lauren continuously demonstrates her ability to execute this essential need day in and day out.

Rich
Hi everyone, meet Rich!
Choosing Rich was a no-brainer for our Spartan Spotlight of the month! Rich has been a Spartan Family member for almost 6 years. Over the past few years, Spartan has had tremendous growth, and much of that comes from our culture. Rich, beyond a doubt, has been instrumental to our fantastic atmosphere. We have watched him welcome new team members and lend more than just a helping hand but exert patience and training.
Rich is also one heck of a Sales Executive. He treats his customers like family and always seems to find 25 hours in a day! Unless that customer finds themselves as his opponent on the basketball court. If that’s the case, Rich’s competitive streak and “show no mercy” warrior pride shines through!
Rich for all of that and more, we thank you and are so grateful to have you on our team from the entire Spartan family!

Kyle
Hi everyone, meet Kyle!
Kyle is our spotlight Spartan employee this month for a special reason. Kyle has been growing his hair out for over a year, and today is the day he got it cut and is donating it to Wigs4Kids.
This act of kindness only touches the surface of who Kyle is. Anyone who knows him can always count on a warm smile and a genuine friend.
Kyle joined Spartan only a short time ago but already has skyrocketed to being a valuable member of our Procurement team.
